How to apply?
Step 1. Create your personal Applicant account;
Step 2. Submit the necessary documents through your personal account;
Step 3. Take the entrance exams and score at least the minimal passing points;
Step 4. Request a contract and get it in your applicant account (in the case of a paid-based training);
Step 5. Sign the contract and pay for the training (if applicable), upload your signed contract and a proof of payment in your applicant account;
Step 6. Wait for your application status to change to “in order”, get access to your Student account;
Step 7. Congratulations! You’re in, so now you may prepare your travel to Moscow, and contact the migration department in case you need a visa.New entry rules to Russia:
- Citizens of visa-free countries – submit an application for entry in advance (3-90 days before entry) via the ruID application or on Gosuslugi portal and receive positive response.
- All foreigners who have not previously confirmed biometrics in Russia should visit a bank within 10 days of arrival. You will not be able to obtain a SIM card or access government services without this confirmation.

FAQ
May I get a scholarship?
There’re only government scholarships, the university itself doesn’t provide scholarships (grants, discounts, etc.).
There are only 2 ways to get a scholarship:
1. To get a scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship (so-called quota) that covers tuition fees as well.
To apply for the quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
2. To win the International Olympiad “Open Doors: Russian Scholarship project Open Doors: Russian Scholarship project (Master and PhD programs).
In case you win, you’ll get a scholarship for the next academic year.
NB: The university doesn’t provide recommendation letters, primary acceptances etc. for scholarship applications.
How do I transfer from my university to Sechenov University?
Transfers may only be accepted from other Russian universities, it’s not possible to transfer from abroad.
When does the application process begin?
Admissions usually begin in June, and close by September. In case the admissions’ period is extended, the announcement on it is published at the university website.
What level of Russian language proficiency is required for admission to SU?
If you intend to study in Russian, you should be fluent in Russian.
If you intend to study in English, you just need some basic Russian for everyday communication.
There’s an entrance exam in Russian for undergraduate programs in both cases.
No language certificate (IELTS or other) is required.
